Widely considered to be /a/’s most famous meme. GAR, also spelt Gar or gar, is a term used to describe an anime character that is the epitome of what it means to be manly and badass. Individuals of this standard are as rare as they are awesome, emotionally overwhelming those watching to the point of orgasming in surprise and excitement or sobbing uncontrollably in a flush of admiration.

It has been described as a neologism of the Latin “virtus”, an ancient (and forgotten) Roman concept glorifying men who strive for a life of courage, self-sacrifice, cunning, overcoming the impossible and honoring those who die a worthy death. Virtus for the Romans and Greeks was not sexual love (eros), but a deep respect requiring a higher sense of admiration and comeraderie neglected in the modern era.

Anime is often considered a form of limited animation. That means that stylistically, even in bigger productions the conventions of limited animation are used to fool the eye into thinking there is more movement than there is. Many of the techniques used are comprised with cost-cutting measures while working under a set budget. Anime has grown by leaps and bounds. We see a quivering mass of naked brunette women, identical in appearance, completely covering Shimaki a.k.a. George in a smothering moaning tower. Shimaki’s panicked grunts escape past the numerous groaning from the hundreds of enveloping naked women. Shimaki strains to break free as the dense compression of naked women seem to be crushing him from all sides. Our horn ball from Osaka, Kuwabara Kazuo watches in disbelief. Shimaki sinks deeper into the tide of butt nakedness until only his eye is seen amongst Nurarihyon’s numerous women.

If you’ve been lucky enough to of been reading Naruto manga since the start, you’ve been able to see the amount of growth the series has aged. The amount of presentation depicted between characters is totally fluid. It’s hard to tell if its the fact that we’ve (meaning the hardcore Naruto fans) have grown to know the characters better, or if Kishimoto is talented enough to be able to give the characters “Age” through dialogue and rationality.
